Although it's been stormy lately, between the storms we have these gorgeous blue skies above our old Valley Oaks. And we don't mind the rain now that the roof has been patched, so things are looking up.
The quince is at it's best right now and several people have stopped by to cut branches for the Chinese New Year. Gung Hay Fat Choy!
The camellias continue to bloom in profusion. We have reddish ones, pink ones, variegated ones, white ones, frilly ones and simple ones. They're a welcome bit of color this time of year, and the hummingbirds love them.
The ferns are sending up their fiddleheads. We have several different kinds of ferns including these holly ferns. Their leaves are large and rather holly like, and their coiled fronds are the size of silver dollars.
We also have sword ferns, maidenhair ferns, brakens, squirrelfoot ferns, and others I haven't yet identified.
One of my favorites is just starting to open: Magnolia soulangeana. There will undoubtedly be more photos of it later this month.

Your pictures are beautiful! I love this time of year when all of nature is "waking up".
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the comment Carol. Knowing how miserable the weather is in so much of the US, I sometimes feel bad showing pictures like this, but I just love Spring.
